Electrical Estimator

Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Salary:: £50,000 - £55,000

A leading M&E Contractor based in Peterborough is looking to strengthen their team with an experienced and driven Electrical Estimator.

 They provide M&E services to a wide range of clients and businesses across a diverse range of sectors including commercial, retail and industrial. These projects are typically valued between £10,000 to £1M.

 As the Electrical Estimator, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.

  • Preparing and submitting accurate and competitive electrical tenders from £10,000 to £1M.

  • Review and interpret contract design and construction drawings.

  • Analyse documents, scope of works, material and time calculations for electrical installations.

  • Collaborate with the client, their agent or on-site personnel to gather the information necessary for accurate estimates.

  • Assess project profitability and suggest ways to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.

  • Prepare valuations and final accounts.

  • Attend site surveys or tender interviews to develop business to the company.

  • Attend regular site meetings with clients and project teams to provide ongoing assistance to the projects team if requests for the generation of variation costs are received.

  • Maintaining and updating cost databases to reflect current market trends, material prices and labour costs ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.

 Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Overall knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of commercial and industrial electrical systems and their installation methods.

  • Proven experience of working as an electrical estimator within a similar environment including electrical installations and design and build projects.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the contract design and construction drawings.

  • The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines whilst managing multiple tenders.

  • The ability to plan, co-ordinate and prioritise tenders.

  • Confident communicator.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • NVQ City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations (or equivalent).
