Are you a recent graduate or early in your construction career and looking to develop within design management?

Curve Recruitment are proud to be partnering with one of Cambridge’s most renowned main contractors in their search for a Trainee / Junior Design Manager.

This role would suit someone with a genuine interest in design management and the construction process, who is eager to learn and develop within the industry. A design or construction-related degree, or some prior experience, would be advantageous but is not essential. More importantly we’re looking for someone with the right attitude, strong organisational skills and a proactive approach. You will receive structured training, mentorship from an experienced team, and clear career progression within a supportive and forward-thinking company.

Performance Objectives

As a Trainee / Junior Design Manager, you will be supported while developing key responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting with the coordination and management of design information

  • Supporting the review of drawings, specifications, and technical submissions

  • Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams

  • Assisting in managing design programmes and tracking deliverables

  • Attending design meetings and site visits to gain practical experience

  • Supporting the resolution of design queries and technical issues

  • Learning to ensure compliance with building regulations and project requirements

  • ·Developing an understanding of the design process across all project stages

Person Specification

  • Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)

  • 1 years’ experience in construction or design (desirable, not essential)

  • Strong interest in design management and coordination

  • Good organisational and communication skills

  • Proficient IT skills (Excel, Word, and ideally some exposure to design software)

  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop

  • Ability to work well as part of a team

  • Full UK driving licence
